As I was watching the market and carefully expected the Dollar might go up around now just to make the market to go down.  (Got a hint from Bill) So it’s just amazing to see the market actually going down.

Here is the dollar price chart. It went up 0.70%.

Today the financial stocks were very week. Citibank(C) $4.27 -4.26%, Bank of America (BAC) $15.40 -5.06%. Actually I got out of C today. Just don’t want to be in Financial sector at this volatile times.

Many websites suggested to buy PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish (UUP) which moves along with the price of dollar. If you do want to have hedge against the volatile stock markets , you might want to do that. I think that there is high chance of dollar going up and leading the market down.

Here is another interesting chart. This is the DOW chart for the last three months. As you can see the daily RSI7 value was over 70 around Sept 19th and hit point 30 around Oct 2nd. That’s about 14 days. And the same pattern has started on Oct 17th and currently heading down to lower line (30). It’s may be the down trend will be continued on for few more days and possibly come back after 14 days? Oct 17th + 14 days = that’s about Oct 30th . The last day of October. Would that be the lowest point of current bear trend? I don’t know. This is just for fun. But I think that the bearish trend has started, but I am not sure how long it will last. We have to act on the technical indicators and price actions.

Stock market closing on 10/26/2009

• Natural Gas : 4.52

This was a dramatic day today, starting negative DOW future (about -50) before the opening, then DOW jumped over the 10110 line then dropped like a stone again right after 3:10 PM closing at 9,949.36. That’s 92 drop compared to the yesterday’s closing. It’s probably that everybody is on edge and put a tight stop on their holdings or maybe automatic trading computer programs were triggered selling stocks at the same time.

Interestingly WFC reported 0.56 cents per share earnings report beating the estimates by amazing 19 cents difference (Estimate was 37 cents), but ended -1.53 (-5.02%) lower. JPM (-1.38 -3.00%) and BAC (-0.50 -2.94%) also closed lower today. This is somewhat proves investors do not trust financial stocks yet.

Maybe just like Bill advocated lately, the time is coming. Maybe the dollar can go up just about now to make the bear to come out. My previous post :

Actually I sold half of my holdings today. I am still thinking if I should close all of my positions tomorrow. It surely takes time to monitor the stocks for the risk management, but it will pay off some day. Just be ready and prepared for the lower prices to come.

Tomorrow earning report : AT&T (T), 3M (MMM), and CIT (CIT). If the reports are worse than expected, it would trigger stronger sell off tomorrow.
